BAR V CATTLE  OUR OPERATION

Our Story

Meet Mike and Vicki Becker. Mike grew up ranching and, while he didn’t take over his family’s operation, he never hung up the rope. Alongside his wife Vicki, he built Bar V Cattle Company while working in construction, growing the operation steadily through long hours, discipline, and consistency. What began as a way to stay connected to ranching became a deliberate, well-managed program built step by step. Today, Bar V Cattle Company spans multiple ranches across Eastern Oregon, yet Mike and Vicki remain hands-on in the day-to-day work. They continue to raise cattle the same way Mike was taught as a kid — with respect for the land, care for the cattle, honest representation, and a commitment to doing things right, even when no one is watching.

How We Run Cattle At Bar V Cattle Company

Our cattle start every spring calving in Pendleton, then summer on rugged mountain terrain across 4 different counties in NE Oregon.

Operations Across Multiple Ranches

Solid Pasture Rotation

Consistent pasture rotation produces cattle that maintain condition, adapt well across varying forage conditions, and develop the durability needed for long-term performance. By moving cattle strategically and managing grazing pressure carefully, we promote balanced nutrition, stronger herd health, and steady development throughout the grazing season.

Hay Raised On Our Own Ground

Controlled Nutrition

Growing hay on our own ground allows us to manage quality from planting to harvest. This control supports consistent forage, balanced nutrition, and cattle that maintain condition across changing seasons.

Land Stewardship

Careful soil management, crop rotation, and responsible harvest practices protect long-term productivity. Investing in our own ground ensures sustainability and dependable forage year after year.

Operational Independence

Producing hay in-house reduces reliance on outside supply and market volatility. By securing our own feed resources, we support steady development and greater program stability.

Quiet Handling -
Year Round

Cattle are handled with calm, consistent stockmanship throughout every season. By maintaining steady pressure and clear communication, we reduce stress and support sound temperament development. The result is cattle that remain manageable, responsive, and dependable in real working environments.

Breeding & Calving

Black Angus X Black Angus

Breeding Black Angus to Black Angus promotes genetic stability and improves uniformity across the entire herd while reducing unnecessary variability. By reinforcing proven bloodlines generation after generation, we strengthen long-term predictability and produce cattle that adapt well and perform consistently in real working environments.

Proven Reliable Genetics

Our genetics are selected with consistency at the forefront, emphasizing uniformity and predictability across the herd. Through balanced selection for growth and long-term performance, we develop cattle built to contribute lasting value. Backed by disciplined management, these genetics support steady progress and dependable results year after year.

Consistent Calving Window

A consistent calving window creates a more uniform calf crop and simplifies overall herd management. By concentrating calving into a defined period, we support improved nutrition planning, stronger herd health, and more predictable growth patterns. This disciplined approach reduces stress on cattle and promotes steady development from the start.
